Dodge Avenger Concept
Dodge is getting set to bust into the mid-size sedan race on a worldwide scale, and its new Avenger is likely going to be the car leading the charge.advertisement
Set to debut at the Paris motor show next week, Dodge's Avenger is being positioned as a global player in arena known as the D-segment across the pond. Stateside, vehicles such as Ford's Fusion and its Mazda6 cousin are likely market targets for the vehicle. Avenger is the sister car of the new Chrysler Sebring, which just started production last week. The Avenger concept to be shown at Paris is powered by a 2.0-turbodiesel engine, which likely won't make it to North American production but could make it to global markets, according to Dodge.Dodge Avenger Concept Front View
When the production Avenger hits U.S. streets sometime before mid-year 2007, it will probably share one or more of Sebring's 2.4-liter four-cylinder, 2.7-liter V-6 and 3.5-liter V-6 engine options.
Like Dodge's Caliber small car and its Nitro ute, Avenger has an angular, edged-out appearance that is defining the division's lineup. The concept's sport-themed package, with its 19-inch wheels, aggressive spoiler and other sport-themed touches, could possibly find themselves adorning an SRT version of the vehicle in the future.
