The 2008 Honda Civic MUGEN Si goes on sale in October. |
New features include a sportier suspension, specific aluminum wheels, unique body styling, and a throatier exhaust system. The car will start under $30,000 and be covered by a full factory warranty. Production for the 2008 model year will be limited to 1,000 units.
Compared to the standard Civic Si sedan, the new car has been lowered by 0.6 inches and features what Honda calls "aggressive spring and damper tuning." The revised suspension was tested on Honda's Twin Ring Motegi racing circuit. Also new are "lightweight" 18x7.5 inch forged aluminum wheels shod with high-performance 215/40ZR18 BFGoodrich g-Force KDW summer tires. The 197-hp 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine and 6-speed manual transmission are unchanged. Honda says the "cat-back" exhaust modifications reduce backpressure.
The body receives a new aero kit that includes a front spoiler, side skirts, a rear bumper diffuser, and a rear wing. Fiji Blue Pearl is the only color available. Interior changes are minimal and include an aluminum shift knob and a limited-edition plaque on the console.
